Our day began with an early breakfast prepared by our hosts at the accommodation. We all received lunch packs and then proceeded to board the bus. Even though it was cloudy and raining in beautiful Vatra Dornei, the bus ride allowed us to enjoy the sights over the mountains.
We arrived to the Aqua Carpatica Factory around 10:30 am and our adventure began. We visited the premises and learned about the water filtering and bottling process. We were also able to ask questions and find out about the job opportunities they have there. The lady who was responsible for us told us all about their recruitment and hiring process, which was very interesting especially for those who have never had jobs previously. The visit ended and we went back to the bus, but not empty handed because everyone received bottles of Aqua Carpatica water.
We then went on and visited the Vatra Dornei City Hall. The building in itself is a masterpiece of architecture and we met the mayor in their conference room which looked exactly like an old ballroom from 100 years ago. The mayor and the gentleman in charge of mountain rescue were kind enough to spend time with us, tell us about the history of the town, the main occupations people have here and the job opportunities, but also about what we can visit in the area and the Via Transilvanica Trail. We were able to ask questions and learn about hiking tips.
After the visit at the City Hall we had lunch and got the chance to explore the town. We walked around the nice streets of Vatra Dornei, tried out Romanian pastry and bakery products and took lots of pictures as the "background" was provided by gorgeous buildings and the majestic mountains around them.
Overall, we had a lovely and exciting day, we learned a lot about the town and the people here, but also had the chance to spend more time together. The day concluded with social time at the accommodation and a well deserved night of sleep.
To wrap up the day, participants reflected on their learning and challenges in a dedicated session, while the leaders met separately to assess progress and ensure the smooth continuation of the mobility.
